A life without service to others, isn't a life worth living!

Today I was in my Seminary class, and we were talking about Service. My teacher shared an awesome story to the class, and I want to share it with you.

This Woman around her mid. 40s stoped at a stop light, awaiting for the light to turn green again so she could get back to her busy day. It was the middle of winter, and ice and snow was everywhere. The stop light wasn't to far from a Jr. High School, and the school day had just ended. Teenagers were jamming the roads and the side walks. She notice this youngman in a wheelchair slowly moving down the side walk, and trying to lead his way through all the snow and ice. Boys and Girls would pass this young man, some not caring to give him a second look, and others kicking slush into his wheels. Anger raced into her mind, she hated these selfish teens. Then the young man in the wheel chair got stuck trying to get over a inbankment of snow. He was trying to cross the street, and the woman knew that the young man wouldn't make it across at this green light or the next. These two girls started to walk towards him to cross the street as well. They walked passes him and his stuck wheel chair. The two girls were in deep conversation, when one of the girls stoped suddenly, like something told her to go back. She went back to help the young man. It took her several times, she finaly pushed her way through the snow, and helped him to the other side of the cross walk. The Woman in the car suddenly started to cry, and she felt that she needed to give more service to people in her life.

I thought this was an awesome story, and I want to start helping people too. I think we all should. It would make the world a better place.
So go out and help someone in need. It doesn't have to be a big act of service, maybe just a smile, or a smiple hello.
You never know what can make someone's day.

Helping my Dad find the true meaning of Valentines Day!

On Saturday, my dad and I went out to breakfast. We were sitting in our booth for two, when I asked him "what he was getting Mom for Valentines Day." He told me that he got her some flowers. Now knowing that he has gotten her flowers in the past ( well almost every Valentines day ) and knowing it he didn't get the usual 12 or more flowers, he just usually got one or two roses with those stupid little white flowers on the side. I asked him, " Is that all that you got her?" What he told me next didn't shock me much. " no. " Ok... Ok... I know the guy just turned like 57 or something, so he has had lots of Valentines Days in his life. But come on! Flowers??? Really?? Even I could do better then that, and I'm only 16.
So I looked at him, and I said... " Dad, you need my help! " I told him to tell my Mom that he was going to take her on a date to dinner tonight at 7 PM and that I would do the rest! ( Whitch he didn't tell her by the way, so my little nephew and neaice came over to be tended, but it all worked out)
I went to Playlist.com and added all the love songs I could think of, I went to to Dollar store and bought some candels, and made a Spagetii and Meatball dinner for two! I decorated their room, and it was so romantic. My friend and I waitered them as they ate and talked for hours. It was great. At the end, my nephew and neaice frosted some heart shaped sugar cookies for their desert. It was great!
I hope by now my Dad understand what Valentines Day is. Yes, flowers are very thoughtfull, and nice. But it needs more to it. I just need to help him sometimes I guess ;) Lets hope he learned his lesson, if not there is always next year!
Happy Valentines Day!/strong>

Sunday and Monday.

On Sunday, the family did the usual. Go to chruch, relax and just be together as a family. I made dinner for Sunday night dinner. I made Taco Soup, and Fruit Pizza. It was good, but not as good as I would have liked it to have been. Scott, Sara and little boy Cameron came over for dinner too. little Cameron is so cute, and he is always asking for pop. After dinner, Kaily, and I went over to Scott and Sara's house, and Sara helped me make a Christmas gift for Pop. Then I came home and went to bed.
On monday, we all kind of relaxed in the morning, and then Scott came over. We all decided that when Sara came home that we would go see a movie. We all wanted to see the new movie " The Blind Side " It was very very good, and I recomend it for people who want to see a good movie. After the movie we went to Scott and Sara's house and ate dinner, we ordered Pizza.
Later, Kaily and I went to Top Hat, and rented lots of Christmas movies to watch, we also went to Wal-mart. Now we are just watching Conan O'Brian, and maybe going to watch a Christmas movie. It was a very good day.

Saturday Night Date

So last night, I went on a date with a very good friend of mine, Hailey Messer. We double with another great friend of my, Kaily VanDenHazel, her dates name was Ryan. We went out to dinner at a restruant called Hires B H, in down town Salt Lake City. Then we went and saw the movie " The Princes and the Frog " It was a verry funny/good movie. I liked how it took place in the USA, and the princes was black. Some parts were funny, scary, and some were sad, and all together it was a great movie. On the wau home, we found a snowman near Ryan's house, and we decided, ( since Kaily and I love to do this ) to kill the snowman. It was Hailey's first time. Kaily got out of the car and headed for the snowman. It was sitting on a ledge that stood about 4-4 1/2 feet off the ground. At first Kaily tried to knock it over from the bottom of the ledge, but it didn't really work. So I told her to go to the top and try it, so she walked to the top, and pushed with all her might. It was rock hard! But she finally pushed it off, it fell in slow motion, right on to its head, all the way down. It was one of the funniest things EVER! I had really fun, and I hope everyone else did too.

So now it is Christmas break, FINNALY!! December has really gone by fast. I can't wait for Christmas, and Christmas eve. I have a count down at the bottom of the blog, just above the picture. Only 5 days away.
I plan to stay awake all night on Christmas Eve. Eve. (December 23rd) and also Christmas Eve. I am going to go rent alot of Christmas movies, and watch them all night. I normaly wake up on Christmas morning around like 5 or 6, but this year I am going to try to sleep in, just for my parents sake.

So I got upset at my History teacher the other day. A student in my class came up to the front of the class to share a news article. The news article was about the two Pit Bulls that were shot to death in the texas airport a few weeks ago. And I hate those stories, cause I am a big animal person. Anyway, on top of that, the student finishes sharing the news article, and the teacher says " well that's good, I think that all Pit Bulls should be shot! " That made me really mad, and I lost some respect for him that day. Tell me your thoughts....

Rob starts school on Monday the 24th, he doesn't want to go, but what ya gonna do?

Rob also just applied for a job.... at DISNEYLAND! He is hoping to work there next summer, knowing that they pay for your housing and bills, and you also get free food. It has always been his dream to work at Disneyland, and it might just become real.
